Monte Baldo - Lake Garda, Italy
When you have to laugh as soon as you wake up because everything is so beautiful, you've arrived at the right hotel.
There are hotels so beautiful that you wouldn't want to recommend them. Hotels that have welcomed you so well, served you excellently and enchanted you so deeply that you want to keep that place all to yourself. After all, you don't want the hotel to ever be full when you desperately want to go, I have often heard that said. In my opinion, it is a foolish idea and unworthy of a traveller, in his conservative momentum.
I therefore recommend a hotel that is absolutely a dream. More precisely, I do not recommend the hotel, but the adjacent late 19th-century manor villa (Villa Acquarone) and, in particular, the rooms on the second floor (unfortunately, the top floor is inhabited by the hotel owner in person, and he knows why).
A hotel where, as soon as I woke up, I had to laugh at how beautiful it was: the sun entering the room through the high arched windows, the light and warm wind, the sound of the small waves of Lake Garda breaking on the shore, the pink flowers climbing the cast-iron balcony, the light clinking from below of those setting the tables for breakfast by the lake, the quacking of ducks waiting for croissant crumbs. You can see and hear all this if you open your eyes in the morning and have left the French doors facing the lake open the night before, which I highly recommend.
